Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on orthopaedic trauma workload in trauma centre, B.H.U., Varanasi, U.P.: Post COVID 19

Introduction: This comparative study was aimed at analysing the impact of COVID 19 pandemic on Orthopaedic workload. Retrospective conducted in Dept orthopaedics, Trauma Centre, BHU, Varanasi, U.P. Method: acute referrals, operations, Hospital stay patients for 1st 3 months post period (20 march – 20june). We compared data with same 2019. Data collected analysed using simple statistical methods percentage. Result: Post comparing previous year there 80.36 decreases surgical procedures done out which 100% decrease elective OT, 76.5% Emergency OT an 74% Minor and average 5 days increased hospital admitted patients. Conclusion: The led to a decline number operations since implementing social distancing lockdown measures patient due delay Covid RT PCR report availability operation theatre.
